Only 4 days to go until the Zzap! Live event in Kenilworth. I'm really looking forward to this seeing as I recently missed out on the first Kickstart 01 event. Unfortunately, however, the main attraction for me attending this event was the legend that is Rob Hubbard. He won't be attending due to family needs. Totally understand of course. Still a bit of a bummer though!
The below info is straight up pasted from the Fusion Retro Books email I received today. :-)
Here's a run down of what's going on.
The event is being held at the Holiday Inn hotel in Kenilworth - CV8 1ED. Doors open at 10am for the main event that will run until 5.30pm.
Parking is restricted to 70 places for the hotel on a first come basis. If you park at the hotel PLEASE ENTER YOUR REGISTRATION ON THE MACHINE AT RECEPTION. If you do not, you will get a fine.
Further parking can be found across the road from the hotel at ABBEY END CAR PARK.
Please ensure you bring your ticket - this can be printed, or can just be displayed on a mobile device. The QR code will be scanned at the entrance to the event.
We have over 500 attendees at the event this weekend - there will be members of the team on hand to manage the queue.
The event takes place on the ground level.
If you have an EARLYBIRD ticket - you can get your goody bag at the Fusion Retro Books stand in the COMMODORE room - table #7.
We have 4 areas at the event - The Q/A room, the AMIGA room, the COMMODORE room and the FUSION Arcade area:
Each room will have a bannerstand so you know which room is which on the day. The plan above also shows you what traders we have, and their location.
The Fusion Arcade area will have a number of arcade machines to play on from Archer Maclean's collection plus more modern machines and Virtual Pinball tables. There will also be a smattering of other retro systems in this area, and also the restaurant area to play on.
Q/As thoughout the day will be in the Q/A room. This room can take up to 80 or so guests - the Q/As will be recorded live and streamed on Youtube. The Talks Overflow area next to the bar in the plan above will have each talk streamed live to a TV. Links to the Youtube channel will be sent out tomorrow.
At the time of writing this post these are the talk attendees;
At the end of each Q/A, there will be limited event framed A3 posters for sale for £40 each. Mr Braybrook also has done his own numbered prints that we will also include with event prints of his that are purchased, whilst the stocks last.
Raffle tickets will be sold throughout the day. The top prize will be the original artwork created by Oliver Frey for our ZZAP! 2019 Annual based on the game Sam's Journey - worth in excess of £1,000 - this painting is professionally framed. In addition there will be a C64 signed by all the guests from the event, some books from Fusion Retro Books, some books kindly donated by Sam at Bitmap Books and further items that will no doubt be added throughout the day. We will be donating 20% of raffle ticket sales to the MND foundation.
In attendance also is Gary Penn and Steve Jarrett - these guys were a part of Newsfield and worked on the orignal ZZAP! 64 magazine. We will also have a number of the current team present who are working on our new ZZAP! 64 Micro magazine.
End copypasta.
